Feyenoord parted ways with manager Priske last week after the club fell to fifth position in the Eredivisie table. Priske, who had replaced Arne Slot in the summer after the Dutch coach joined Liverpool, lasted a little over six months at the Rotterdam club.

Feyenoord are yet to finalise a replacement for Priske, however, claims that the club have approached fellow Eredivisie side Heerenveen to negotiate a deal for Van Persie. The former Manchester United and Arsenal forward joined Heerenveen last summer as head coach after completing his UEFA Pro diploma course.

Van Persie started his professional career at Feyenoord before moving to England to join Arsenal. He later moved to United where he won his first and only Premier League title. He went on to play for Fenerbahce in Turkey and returned to the Dutch side for one last dance in the 2018-19 season. Before taking up his first senior managerial role at Heerenveen, the ex-Netherlands international coached Feyenoord's Under-18 side.

WHAT NEXT FOR FEYENOORD?

After qualifying for the Champions League round of 16 stage on Tuesday at AC Milan's expense, Feyenoord will be back in action on Saturday as they face Almere in a league clash.
