Despite falling to a 1-0 loss to fourth-placed Stockport County in League One on Saturday, manager Parkinson was full of praise for Burton's performance between the sticks. With first-choice stopper Arthur Okonkwo out injured, having a solid deputy could be key to the success of Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney's Wrexham side.

Parkinson told reporters: "Callum was excellent. He put in a really good performance. I’m very pleased for him, obviously, as much as he’ll be happy with his performance, the most important thing is the team gets a result and we weren’t able to do that, but I don’t think he could have done much more on the day."

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Wrexham missed the chance to close the gap on League One's top two sides Wycombe Wanderers and Birmingham City on Saturday. They are still two points outside the automatic promotion spots and have played two more games than City and one more than Wycombe. But they have still made a very good start to the season and promotion to the Championship is very much a possibility.

Burton will continue to be Wrexham's keeper while Okonkwo is sidelined, with the 23-year-old out for another six weeks or so. Next up for the Red Dragons is a home clash against Exeter City next Saturday.
