Wrexham have created history by grabbing three consecutive promotions after they confirmed their automatic promotion to the second tier of English football, the Championship, on Saturday afternoon courtesy of a 3-0 win over Charlton.

Wrexham's dream of reaching the Premier League seemed like more of a pipe dream when McElhenney and Reynolds took ownership at the club, which had spent almost 15 years in the National League before that point. However, the Hollywood stars have now joked that while they intend to celebrate the promotion to the Championship, they want to start their preparations for the push to reach the English flight as soon as possible.

WHAT MCELHENNEY AND REYNOLDS SAID

Speaking to , McElhenney said: "One season away from the Premier League? Well, that's for tomorrow to think about. Today is just about enjoying [the promotion to the Championship]".

Reynolds joked "We have to wait until tomorrow?", to which the It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia star responded: "Well, yeah, I mean we can probably wait until 12:01 [am], and then tomorrow we can talk about it [promotion to the Premier League]."

Reynolds continued the joke by saying: "I'll erase the white board I put up at half-time."

GOALWHAT NEXT FOR WREXHAM?

The Red Dragons do not have much more to do until the end of the season as Birmingham City have already won the League One title, while Wrexham are secure in second place. As such, they will now be ready to begin preparations for next season as early as any other club.
