Diego Simeone has learned his punishment from UEFA after he confronted Liverpool fans at Anfield during his side's 3-2 Champions League defeat earlier this month. The Argentine manager was sent off in the dying minutes of the match after he got involved in a heated exchange with a fan after Virgil van Dijk's late winner.

The Atletico boss was visibly frustrated and furious after the goal as he confronted a bunch of Liverpool fans sitting just behind the dugout and eventually received his marching orders.

After the match, Simeone claimed that he and his coaching staff were verbally abused and insulted by the home supporters, which sparked his anger and the simultaneous reaction. 

Simeone and Liverpool learn UEFA punishment

After an investigation, UEFA have given their verdict on the matter and have handed Simeone a one-game suspension in the Champions League. Liverpool, on the other hand, have been fined €4,000 (£3,493) for fans throwing objects.
